Quilted items, such as cushions, wall-hangings and bed covers, add style and individuality to the home. And, once the different methods of quilting are understood, they are easy to make. 

There are twelve different types of quilting, such as flat, trapunto, Italian and corded. In Part 1, each is described and illustrated. The best types of fabric and the necessary materials and equipment are listed; advice is given on special sewing techniques, and on choosing, scaling and transferring designs.

In Part II, designs and instructions are provided for a series of specially designed projects, including cushions, a cot quilt, a bed quilt, an evening jacket and a window blind. Full instructions are provided for each, together with explanatory line drawings.

Quilting designs can be simple and practical, or highly decorative. They can use one type of quilting, or two or three in combination. In addition quilting can be combined with other forms of needlework such as patchwork and appliqué. Whatever type of design or technique you choose, Quilting will enable you to make beautiful and original furnishings, clothes and items for the home.
