"We'll make his life so miserable that within a few weeks he'll run back to the shack he came from."

These were the words which greeted Leon Smith on the day he arrived at Clan College, the famous boarding school.

Leon had been unfortunate. Coming from a poor home and wearing his well-worn suit instead of the school uniform, he had met the bully Jim Vorster and his cronies just as he entered the school grounds. The gang had taken on a hostile attitude when they learned that this disreputable looking boy with his blankets and battered old suitcase was a new schoolfellow, and they became positively menacing when they discovered that he would be in their dormitory.

When Leon refused to bow before the bully, the gang decided that he should be ignored and that no one should speak to him. So Leon was very lonely while he tried to find his footing in the strange surroundings where he had full opportunity of making a fool of himself. That was exactly  what he did when he tried to play cricket and earned the name of "demon bowler from Gamoepfontein."

But Leon persevered, and in the end...Well, you will enjoy discovering what happened in the end when you read this book yourself.
