Against the backdrop of their quayside room, hunted by silence and boredom, a young couple are initiated into the strange rites of love. Elsewhere, a young boy is forced to indulge the fantasies of his aunt by wearing a girl's dress to dinner while she is clothed in a soldier's uniform. And a girl of nine is led along a canal by a stranger's promise of seeing red and yellow butterflies. These eight stories find a dark comedy in moments of wild depravity.
