Bookshops have always been places where writers find readers and where readers find themselves.Think of Shakespeare and Company in Paris, where writers like James Baldwin, Anaïs Nin, and Lawrence Durrell were offered not just shelf space, but shelter and support. Bookshops have always been more than just places of sale, they’re places of care.
At The Story Station, we’d like to continue that tradition in our own way. We know we don’t have physical space (but we keep dreaming so watch this space), and we don’t publish books. But we do have platform and a community that values stories and the people who tell them. If you're a local author with a new or current book out, we want to help. We’ll feature you or your book in our newsletter and on our socials - no cost, no strings attached. It’s just one small way to keep your stories in circulation and help more readers find you.
If that sounds like something you’d be keen on, or if you are a reader with a favourite local author who you think we should spotlight, please reach out to me at info@thestorystation.co.za.
Pick-up now available in Stellenbosch
So many of you asked and I've decided to give it a bash.
Although The Story Station is currently an online bookshop, local pickup in Stellenbosch is now officially a thing!
Here’s how it works:
- Place your order on the website
- Select the “Pick up” option at checkout
- We’ll be in touch within 24–48 hours to make arrangements
Simple as that!
Please note: We're a small operation so while I’ll always try to be as quick as possible, I’d rather be upfront about timing than leave you hanging.
This is a bit of an experiment, and I’m so excited to see how it goes. Thanks for cheering us on every step of the way.
