Maar daar is ook die geheime woonstel in Seepunt en die gruwel van Harare, waar hy op die spoor van méér as artefakte loop.

In die middelpunt is Lewis Stores se jaarlikse Suiderkruisderby op Matjiesfontein met sy amper magiese wedvlugduifkultuur en eksentrieke karakters: Miss Edelweiss, musiekonderwyseres, wat die vlaktes met haar metaalverklikker bewandel. En Snaartjie, dogter van Piet Windvogel, draadspanner en lekeprediker, sy wat selfs die duiwe met haar vioolspel betower. 

Tussen die verskyning van die "rotmotor"op die N2 na Stellenbosch en die Pister op Matjiesfontein, verdwyn Snaartjie en ontvou ’n intrige wat hede en verlede bind tot ’n fassinerende eenheid.
